Contracts Manager, MechanicalHead Office Location: KentSite Locations: Various areas of LondonTravel: Fully-expensedSalary: £60,000 - £70,000, plus bonus (paid on project completion)

Overview of role:

A Contracts Manager will be expected to manage the successful running & completion of multiple projects, developing/maintaining relationships with clients and working collaboratively with other departments internally such as the commercial team.

Contracts Managers play a pivotal role throughout the life of the project and are generally the main point of contact for clients from the stage of securing the project to completion.

Duties:

The Contracts Manager will be expected to carry out a number of tasks; both on-site and within the office. Many of these tasks will be aided by the use of software packages, such as Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, Projects etc., to produce correspondence and documentation. General tasks will include, but not be limited to:

  • Regular site visits monitoring work progress and ensuring the quality of work is to the acceptable standard, consistent across
  • Compiling, maintaining & issuing of programmes
  • Taking-off /scheduling materials and assisting with procurement
  • Analysis of labour resource requirements and placement & control of labour, managing associated costs in accordance with set budgets
  • Scheduling engineer's prices/rates, in conjunction with the above
  • Assisting with reviewing, authorising and scheduling engineer's monthly payments, ensuring that invoiced is reflective of work complete
  • Assisting with the preparation of monthly applications to Clients for payment and costing of variations throughout the life of each project
  • Ensuring Risk Assessment & Method Statements are prepared and monitored
  • Ensuring company policies with regard to H&S, environment are adhered to at all times
  • Assisting in preparing technical submissions
  • Collating certification/literature and preparation of O&M manuals
  • Assisting with post-completion issues such as defects and liaising with the After-Sales Department in order to resolve
  • Providing general advice & support to site, specifically Foreman/Supervisors
  • Attending project meetings with Clients, Consultants, Sub-Contractors and other third parties as necessary
  • Attending and providing input within regular internal cost review meetings, whereby costs incurred / committed / anticipated are reviewed against budgets and forecasts
  • Preparation of work in progress reports for submission to the Directors upon request
  • Undertaking any other tasks/duties as may be reasonably required and/or requested by senior members of staff

The Contracts Manager is expected to demonstrate a sound understanding of the whole project life process and ensure client satisfaction in our successful completion of the services installation

The right person will have / be:

  • 5 year's experience in a management role of a similar nature
  • A HNC/HND in Mechanical Services or similar
  • Practical experience/skills certified (even if basic level plumbing or similar), in-date CSCS card
  • First Aid & SMSTS
  • Competent in the use of computers and software/systems such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook etc
  • Methodical and well-organised
  • Strong leadership skills
  • An analytical and methodical approach to problem solving
  • Meticulous
  • A strong communicator, both verbally & in writing
  • The ability to work under pressure, prioritise and multitask
  • Self-motivated
  • Trustworthy
  • A level of commercial awareness
  • A good understanding of mechanical services industry and associated materials
