Design Engineer (Mechanical)

£32,000 - £40,000 per annum

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Design Engineer to join a market leading manufacturing company based in West Kent.

This role will involve:

• Working alongside the Lead Design Engineer to assist with projects from the designing stage to final product.
• Working with hydraulics, pneumatics, plastics and (occasionally) electrics/electronics.
• Having an input with the design of new products.
• Liaising with internal/external suppliers to ensure the team have all required parts to complete projects to a high standard.
• Monitoring bills of material, ensuring all projects are cost effective to the company.
• Modifying legacy data as and when required.
• Attending exhibitions to ensure our client is keeping up with competitor's products. This may involve some travelling abroad.
• Attending meetings with other departments of the company to ensure quality of the products is as high as possible.
• Working flexibly to meet the needs of the job, ensuring duties are organised effectively to meet company policies and procedures.
• Developing professional relationships with internal and external teams.
• Creation of 3D models and 2D detail drawings (SolidWorks and/or AutoCAD).

The suitable candidate will:

• Portray high levels of accuracy and a good attention to detail.
• Have the ability to manage their own workload and use their own initiative
• Be able to solve customer queries in a timely and effective manner
• Be confident using SolidWorks/AutoCAD and SAP
• Be computer literate in all Microsoft programmes
