Job Title: Mortgage Underwriter

Salary: £34-40,000 per annum, DOE

Location: West Malling

Exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Mortgage Underwriter to join our client, an established lender with a strong brand identity.

Duties include:

• Accurately underwriting applications and providing excellent customer service whilst meeting prescribed timescales.
• Assessing portfolio Landlords in line with current regulations and guidelines.
• Understanding CAIS information alongside current lending guidelines.
• Supporting underwriters and underwriting support colleagues with training to meet identified skill gaps.
• Proactively taking ownership of complex cases and queries and supporting colleagues with complex cases as needed.
• Supporting the Head of Underwriting as required.
• Presenting cases to the Credit Committee for approval where necessary.
• Effectively building and managing key relationships with new and existing clients.
• Maintaining accurate internal systems so current positions and information are reflected at all times.
• Responding accurately and appropriately to telephone calls, enquiries, and other correspondence, in timely fashion.
• Liaising effectively with Mortgage Consultants and Senior Management.

The successful candidate will have:

• Underwriting experience, ideally within the Buy-to-Let market.
• Experience of holding a mandate.
• Confidence and experience dealing with brokers and third parties.
• Strong knowledge of the mortgage markets.
• Experience lending to Limited Companies, Portfolio Landlords and Ex-Pats.
• Fantastic communication skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and to strict deadlines, whilst providing the highest levels of customer service.
• Excellent planning and problem-solving skills.
• A proactive and positive approach, with plenty of tenacity and resilience.
