Job Title: Technical Surveyor (Regional)
Salary: £37,500 + £4,800 car allowance
Location: Essex & North London Region
Great opportunity for a Technical Surveyor to join our client, an established and busy insurance company. You will be assessing scope and quantifying buildings insurance claims, as well as providing first level technical support to the Customer Services team.
Duties include:
- Completing claim assessments at the address and sharing the outcome with the customer.
- Using Surveyor reports and other relevant information/guidance to evaluate and explain claim decisions, clearly documenting reasons for any declined elements.
- Providing first stage support to Customer Services on FOS complaints including the writing of reports detailing the technical decision.
- Identifying cases with potential for cost savings or repudiation and arranging for a Surveyor site visit.
- Liaising with Building Contractors to review variation and/or Interim Payments, including joint site visits where indicated.
- Offering technical support within the Surveying Team on building repairs, methodology and pathology.
- Undertaking joint site visits with Large Loss/Complex Claim Handlers to discuss and agree any issues or outstanding items relating to policy cover directly with the Policyholder.
- Auditing and oversight of the Surveyor Network and Contractors, with Supply Chain Manager assistance.
- Documenting assessments, progressing, and updating all claims on the company software, including closing claims when appropriate.
The successful candidate will have:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and solid numeracy, with at least Level 2 standard qualifications in these subjects. A related qualification such as HNC in construction would be desirable.
- Substantial experience in construction. Trade background considered.
- Experience in estimating/ surveying within insurance.
- Confident computer literacy, including MS Office. Experience using Xactware or other estimating software would be desirable though not essential.
- Good organisational skills demonstrating accuracy and attention to detail.
- Tact and assertiveness when dealing with customers who may be distressed or angry.
- The ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines and targets.
- Lots of self-motivation and the desire to work under their own initiative.
